You should be able to go to the hotel's website and see what Internet connectivity they have, and whether or not there will be a fee. Most hotels will have basic connection directions either on a card in the writing desk in the room or available from the front desk/concierge. If you haven't used wifi with your laptop yet, take a few minutes to read the User Guide, and learn how to turn on the wifi adapter. Then go to a nearby Starbuck's and connect there. -- Lem -- MS-MVP - Networking To the moon and back with 64 Kbits of RAM and 512 Kbits of ROM. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Guidance_Computer

In Vista set the network type to 'public' which disables network discovery, file sharing, etc. In XP configure for "No exceptions". Some do, some don't. A work around that I sometimes use is to use the free Mail2Web SSL service while traveling. https://www.mail2web.com/cgi-bin/login.asp?lid=0&il=1 -- Al Jarvi (MS-MVP Windows Networking) Please post *ALL* questions and replies to the news group for the mutual benefit of all of us...
