(1) I connected 2 pentium 4 one with windows xp prof. and otherxp home with d
link router which is itself connected to dsl cable modem. untill yesterday
both were connecting to internet, but now non is connecting although when I
connected one computer directly to dsl cable modem, internet started working.
when connecting thru router one computer says 'no or limited connectivity'
other computer's browser says ' page can't be dsiplayed.  when I check the
status of connection. there is some figure in packets sent but its a zero
under recieved packets. Do I need to run router cd on both of computers?
(2) How to make a program not to run when windows start? The startup folder
is empty.  thanks a lot for any help.

I would check the connection and make sure you can ping the router. If not, please post the result of ipconfig /all.

1) I wouldn't run the CD that came with the router, on either computer.  If you
have a router, run the Network Setup Wizard on both computers, and select
This computer connects to the Internet through another computer on my network or
through a residential gateway.

2) There are 4 well known "startup folders", and half a dozen lesser known ones.
Use Autoruns from SysInternals (Microsoft), to find the problem.
