network limited or no connectivity error message

i am running windows xp pro on a pc and a dell server and keep getting an
error message saying limited or no connectivity, they both keep trying to
renew there ip addresses. i have no idea how to configure the ip addresses,
any help i can get would be appreciated

However the above is rather general the actual final settings would depends
on the nature of the relations with the Dell Server (there are many kinds
with many variations).
You did not indicate what OS is running on the Server, and what is the
purpose of the whole arrangement.
