How to use a specific network connectionHi,
I have 2 network connections (1 wireless and 1 cable) to my computer and I want to use a specific one of them for my internet / outlook express- how do I select that the connection should go through e.g.. the wireless adaptor? Your help is highly appreciated. Thanks Ole In article <#DDUl1NUHHA.4***@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl>, "Ole"

Another solution is to remove the default gateway address from the connection that you don't want to use. If both connections are enabled and both of them have default gateway address, Windows uses the one with the lower metric value. By default, it automatically assigns a metric value based on the network connection's rated speed: An explanation of the Automatic Metric feature for Internet Protocol routes http://support.microsoft.com/?id=299540 To make Windows use a specific connection when both of them are enabled, assign a metric value to each one, giving the lower value to the desired connection: 1. Open the Network Connections folder. 2. Right click the desired connection. 3. Click Properties > Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). 4. Click Properties > Advanced. 5. Un-check "Automatic metric". 6. Enter a number between 1 and 9999 for the "Interface metric". -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
