Network card to take precedenceHello Everyone
Windows XP I don't know whether this is the right group. But if it is, this is my questions: Is there a way to give the cable network interface priority over the wireless interface? As things stand, if both the cable and the wireless cards are connected, then the default seems to be to try the wireless network first. I know how to disable the wireless card, but I would prefer if possible to leave the wireless interface running. Many thanks. Best In article <07C31741-C8F8-4341-9009-3E8CC63C4***@microsoft.com>,

By default, it automatically assigns a metric value based on the network connection's rated speed: An explanation of the Automatic Metric feature for Internet Protocol routes http://support.microsoft.com/?id=299540 To force Windows to use a specific network connection, assign a metric value to each one, giving the lowest value to the desired connection: 1. Open the Network Connections folder. 2. Right click the desired connection. 3. Click Properties > Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). 4. Click Properties > Advanced. 5. Un-check "Automatic metric". 6. Enter a number between 1 and 9999 for the "Interface metric". -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
