Sharing a connectionI want to share my internet connection with another connection and it keeps failing I have 2 connections on the computer that is connected to the cable modem 1. Called 'Local Area Connection' which is the one used to connect to the internet 2. Called 'Local Area Connection2' which is used to connect both computers I tried 'Sharing' both connections but still doesn't work Which connection I need to share? What should be the IP settings of the second computer? Is it related to permission and how can I rectify that? Thank you, Samuel Buy a router. Connect the cable modem as the input to the router and connect
each computer to the router's outputs. Works very well. Routers are about $30 Show quoteHide quote "Samuel" <samuel.shul***@ntlworld.com> wrote in message news:uvJR3FeWHHA.4252@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > Hi everyone, > > I want to share my internet connection with another connection and it > keeps failing > > I have 2 connections on the computer that is connected to the cable modem > 1. I would second the above notion about buying a Cable/DSL Router. However in order to share an Internet connection via two Network cards (without a Router) and a crossover cable you need to configure ICS, http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_ics/ Jack (MVP-Networking).
