There are two or more network connections: one for the Internet, and one or more for the home network (LAN). The home network connection can use wired Ethernet, wireless Ethernet, IEEE 1394 (FireWire), or Bluetooth, or it can be a network bridge. It can't use a serial or parallel port. With more than one enabled home network connection, there will be a box asking you to specify which one to use for the home network. 2. The home network connection(s) must be enabled and connected. 3. The Internet Connection Firewall (XP RTM and SP1) must be disabled on the home network connection. 4. The Internet connection must not be bridged. Go to Device Manager and see if any devices (especially network adapters) weren't installed successfully when you reinstalled Windows XP. -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see. I'm sorry, but I don't answer questions addressed directly to me in E-mail or news groups. Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Program http://mvp.support.microsoft.com thanks alot, finally got the option up, thanks again.
