cannot even ping plz helpthe Internet through A and also have a printer connected to it. From B I used to be able to acces the Internet and print through the Ethernet connections through a simple Ethernet Switch. Recently I bought Norton Anti-Virus 2007 and installed it first on A and later to be on B as well. However trouble immediately surfaced after I installed it on A. I suddenly lost all communications between the two computers. I have tried just about everything I could think of: 1) Un-installed and wiped out all trace of Norton from A. 2) System restored A. 3) Disabled anti-virus on B. 4) Re-run Network Setup Wizard on both computers with A as main Internet access and B going through A for access. 5) Made sure Win XP firewall was NOT en-abled on both computers. 6) Made sure File Sharing and Printer Sharing are enabled on both computers. Nothing worked. Now when I ping A from B or B from A using IP addresses all I got is an error message "Destination host unreachable". I have repeated the above steps ad-nauseam and am now desperately stuck. Please help. Darren,
Did you solve this problem? I am currently experiencing a very similar issue. We have a small workgroup, 3 xp home computers and 1 xp pro, also a 2003 workgroup server. the xp pro computer and only ping a couple of the computers on the network. Incidentally, the xp pro box had norton AV running. We uninstalled it, but still can't ping. We've tried all the steps you've listed below plus enabling netbios over tcp/ip. Please let me know if you solve this problem. thanks, Mike Show quoteHide quote "darrenbruin" <darrenbr***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8E5706CC-FEFC-4E04-8263-D3A277598763@microsoft.com... >I have a simple home networking between two computers, A and B.
