File Copying ErrorHello,
We are experiencing an intermittent problem copying files to our server. Two client machines, WinXP pro copying 20gb of data to our Win2003 server. XP clients connect to the Server over mapped drive. About 2 weeks ago we started having failures during this copy process. At random intervals, we receive error copying file. The drive is still mapped and I can copy another file to same server resource from the same client. The network connection is active, but the original client block of data stops copying. We perform these copies several times a day however lately we are having this problem daily. Any thoughts or suggestions? TP Hi Tom,
High network load can cause this. Like a backup job running at the same time. This often shows up in the Event log as MrxSMB yellow error warnings. Download the MS resource tool kit and read up on Robocopy. It works very well. You can set the IPC "inter packet gap" so as not to overload your network. Its well documented and don't be put off by the complex options. Its easy - just read the instructions carefully. Hope that helps, CreateWindow http://mymessagetaker.com Stop using those paper phone message pads make the computer work for you. http://justpageprobe.com The FREE Web page utility you always wanted. Monitor your enterprise Web Servers. Keep your router connected. Email your IP to where you need it.
