What do you mean?  Do you mean to be able
to see shared folders?  Or just to log on to a
machine?  Or what?

If it's the latter, that's easy, but it sounds like
you want the former or something and if that's
the case, I'm looking for that information as well.
It just isn't like it was with NT 4. :)

What I mean is simple
- 10 Windows XP Machines in Workgroup.
- GOAL: To set a Password Policy on all the machines
    - enforce password history of 8
    - Max password age of 90 Days
    - Min Password Length of 8 Characters

I am looking for a script to do this or a batch file.

Well, I typed the following into Google:

xp "password policy"

....and got quite a few hits that appear to show you
what you're looking for.  Maybe one of them will
help you.

What I am confused about, is how to make it so
only certain computers that are plugged into my
router can see shared folders and why my laptop
stops seeing the shares for days at a time.

Any ideas?

The Bible says that death came by sin and sin came
by Adam (Rom 5:12; 1 Cor 15:21-22).

Evolution says lots of things lived and died before
Adam and Eve got here and therefore attempts to rule
out what the Bible says.

One or the other is right, but they can't both be right.

Deuteronomy Chapter 5:
... For I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the
fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation of those who hate
Me, (10) and doing mercy to thousands of those who love Me and keep My
commandments.

Therefore, for the believers there is no problem, for the unbelievers this
was only a problem for four generations.

Unless of course God had made a change to System Policies meantime... <g>

That's an entirely different topic.  But if you wish to
discuss this, I suggest we take it to a Biblical group.
What you saw is just a signature, not part of my post.

Not an answer, but you might like to take a look at:

http://mylogon.net

A generally better way to manage a small network. Since all users logon to a
central server, you determine your passwords there. At the moment no password
policies or way for users to change their own passwords,  but I'm looking at
that for the next version. In any case, not really necessary for a 10-user
setup, just set the passwords yourself on the server.
