Network access into an XP pro pcPulling my hair out trying to get a recently purchased NAS device to be able
to go access files on my XP pro pc drive for the purposes of backing up files. Both my pc and my NAS device are issued a static IP on my LAN and the workgroup is named the same. Can someone either point me to a primer or help me walk through all of the correct steps to getting my primary drive on the XPpro pc shared properly so that this device can gain access? I can get from the XPpro pc to the NAS device shares (folders) without a problem, but am getting either error connecting to or invalid login when trying to setup backup jobs from the NAS to the XPpro pc. Thanks for the assistance. On Oct 12, 1:56 pm, Philip <Phi***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote:

A blank password will not work. Hi
The Sharing permissions have to be configured on both the Computer and the NAS. As for the NAS, read its manual. For Windows XP. Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings, http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is allowed to be shared.
