hi.  i have a weird issue with one of my pc's.  i am able to work fine - get
on the network, get on the internet, etc.  i installed pcanywhere the other
day, and to configure it, i have to go into network connections and assign it
a static IP address.  under network connections there is no local area
connection icon.  also, under device manager the network device is not there,
but i am able to work just fine.  went to intel's site and got the current
driver - still nothing.  well, actually, it did show up under network
devices, but with a yellow exclamation point, and had a code 10 error -
device cannot start.  i put in a different nic, and still having the same
issue.  it seems as though i wouldnt have any connection, but i am getting
link lights on the nic, and i am still able to work just fine.  any ideas???

I have actually already read this article, but have not yet had a chance to
try it.  The only question I have though is will this solve the issue in
device manager?  It seems that the two problems shouldn't be connected with
each other.  This article doesn't mention anything about not having a network
connection in device manager.  I would appreciate anything you know about
this, thanks.

Yeah - I'm afraid that's a new one on me.  Both the device and Device
Manager appear to be working - and yet the device is not listed or is listed
as having a problem.  I'll keep looking, but .............
