XP network and guest sign-inI have a 2 computer XP pro network thru a westell router. I had no access
from the //downstairs computer to the //upstairs computer, but ok vice versa. Got the "//upstairs is not accessible' message. Went thru the trouble shooter malke posted and changed a few things. Now when trying to get to //upstairs thru network places I get a logon box for //upstairs/guest asking for a password. User accounts for //upstairs says the guest account is turned off. Help for 'guest' comes up with user accounts but no mention of a network logon like this. Any ideas? In article <91A42080-C2BC-4242-A982-3F4390567***@microsoft.com>,

It determines whether you can log in as Guest at the local keyboard.. These commands enable or disable the Guest account for network access: net user guest /active:yes net user guest /active:no Make sure that there's no network password for the Guest account: 1. Click Start | Run. 2. Type "control userpasswords2" in the box and click OK: 3. Click Guest. 4. Click Reset Password. 5. Click OK without entering a new password. -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
