Networking 2 Computers & Xbox HELP!!!

Here's the situation. I have a desktop (with Windows XP professional), a
laptop (XP Home Ed.), and an Xbox. My desktop is connected directly to my
Qwest DSL modem via USB cable. My laptop is in another room and is connected
to the modem via the modem's wireless gateway. The xbox is in the same room
as the laptop. I would like to set things up so that the computers are
networked for file and printer sharing, and  the Xbox share's the laptop's
internet connection (for Xbox Live). I've tried about a thousand times to get
this all to work, all in vain. I can never get it to work, and everytime I
end up screwing something up, making it so I can't get on the internet on the
laptop (even though it say's the wireless connection is up, no programs will
be able to get the net). I did a system restore to get my laptop working on
the internet again, but I need instructions on getting this set up (as
detailed as possible). I know this is a lot to ask, but I'm so frustrated.
HELP!!!

Thank you!, tgrgyXI

You posted this before and got answers. Didn't like them? Couldn't find your
post (next time search for your name in Google Groups Advanced Search)?

Here is the answer again: buy a wireless game adapter and plug it into your
Linksys and everything will work.

Last time I got an email saying there was a reply, but the link to check it
didn't work, and when I looked it up manually, it didn't show any other
posts. And, I know it can be done through ICS, so I'm not spending $100 on an
Xbox wireless adapter.
