Two ethernet cards and 2 workgroups

With Win XP, SP2.
Can I have 2 ethernet cards and join two different workgroups?
I need to get a realtime data from both of these workgroup simultaneously.
I do not see a way but I have been getting conflicting answers.

A computer can only be a member of one workgroup. Fortunately,
there's no need to be a member of two different workgroups. A
computer in any workgroup can access shared resources belonging to a
computer in any other workgroup.

A computer can have two Ethernet cards and access two different
physical networks. There's no association between workgroups and
physical networks. A single physical network can have computers in
multiple workgroups. Two different physical networks can have
computers in the same workgroup.

Workgroups don't provide real-time data. Computers and other devices
provide real-time data, and you can connect to them regardless of what
workgroup any computer is in.
