Ooppsss... I forgot the second part of your question... You need to setup
port forwarding through your router for TCP Port 3389... See this page for
help, etc...

i have thought about that but let me throw a monkey wrench into the works, my
wife has a compaq bladee blah and also running xp with sp2 my main is running
sp1 cause some cellular programs are not compatable with sp2 anyways other
then that configured the exact same way compleatly open.  now before her
power supply died i was able to remote to her desktop but not the others,
while at the same time i was having issues connecting to the map drives on
that comp.  Also i was able to use terminal connection on my toshiba e740
with cf wifi card to log on as well but i couldent do that with the other 2
machines. to sum it all up i have a total of 2 desktops 1 with sp1 (pc 1) the
other with sp2 (pc 2) one table pc with xp-tpc sp2 (pc 3) and a pocket pc
with a wifi connection. router is a netgear bladee blah on a cable csu/dsu no
passwords what so ever on the internal network. remote work for pc2 and for
the ppc but not for pc1 and pc3.  pc 1 and pc3 can file share with ease, not
so much with pc2 while ppc can see entire network structure and can interact
with all 3.  when trying to remote to pc 1 and 3 a password is needed and i
dont have one but i can see the log in screen just fine. pc1/3/ and ppc can
log on to pc2 with out a password (confused yet??) WHAT THE HECK!?!?!?! it
doesnt make any logical sence OH btw pc3 uses both rj45 as well as wireless
and the result is still the same. would all that be caused by the router? or
is my network just fubarbed....
