Networking Notworking :-)I am a member of a small LAN of 10 computers, all of which run different flavours of Windows (98 XP, 2000, 2003) No internet connection. However, once in a while my PC, ( windows XP Pro- 256 Mb ram, 40Gb with 20GB free HDD- P4 1.5and realtek ethernet card 100 MBPs) refuses to access the network computers. displaying.U are not permitted..Contact Network Admin... Our LAN doesnt require any password to login. ALl comp0uters are connected through Network switches, No server No domain. No matter what I do..the problem doesn't go away.. SOmetimes I have to run the network wizard to recreate the network and then only the Connection establishes.. SOmetimes I can't access any computer on LAN but can print my documents on network printer. One more thing..I have had lots of problems which were solved here..at this forum.. So I again think this forum will help me out. :-) Thanx in anticipation.. Can anyone suggest anything to speedup the LAN ? SAT Just a few questions:
Are all PC's in the same WORKGROUP? Are all PC's getting DHCP or STATIC IP Addressing? Do they all have different Names? Are all Win98 machines network settings set to "not network browsemaster"? And have you tried to turn your XP firewall off for a short duration? Depending on where the printers are connected: network or pc hosted; you may or may not be able to use them while not able to access the pc's.
