Ron Lowe and I have written a web page with details: Windows XP Professional File Sharing http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_filesharing/index.htm -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see. I'm sorry, but I don't answer questions addressed directly to me in E-mail or news groups. Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Program http://mvp.support.microsoft.com hi steve,
I tried and it is getting there. I already disabled the simple file sharing and I am now able to see the ACL list but i don't see the "sharing" tab. I double check my network setting and I already have the "files and printer sharing for microsoft network" enabled. I don't know why the "sharing" tab is missing. Do you have any idea? thanks Show quoteHide quote "Steve Winograd [MVP]" wrote: > In article <2C159293-203A-4542-8901-4CAE2E097***@microsoft.com>, billy > <bi***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > >I have a few machines that are running Win XP Pro. Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Program http://mvp.support.microsoft.com No..that's not the ACL that I saw.. I can only see "sharing and security"
when the "simple file sharing" box is checked. Once I disable it, I can no longer share file. I can only access the ACL of the folders. Click Start > Run. 2. Type "services.msc" in the box and click OK. 3. Double click Server in the list of services. If the Service status is Stopped, click Start. 4. Set the Startup type to Automatic. If that doesn't solve the problem, please reply with more details -- enough details that those of us who can't see your computer can understand the situation: 1. How are you accessing the ACL of folders without going through the Sharing tab? 2. What exactly do you see when you access the ACL of a folder? 3. What menu choices do you see when you right-click a folder? -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
