High-speed Internet connection selection order (non-dialup)For computers that have more than one active high-speed Internet connection
(e.g. Ethernet LAN and wireless LAN), how does Windows XP or Internet Explorer choose which connection to use? Can I read or set the connection selection order in some GUI interface or the Registry? I ask this because I would like a clean method of assuring that a video streaming client (an Internet Explorer add-on) chooses the faster LAN connection if it is active. I want a better method than disconnecting a plug or temporarily disabling one of the connections. --John Hupp Hi

From what Windows popup Help says about the Metrics field, I also conclude that when Windows finds more than one active connection, it *should* use the fastest one based on an automatically calculated metric. --John Show quoteHide quote "Jack (MVP-Networking)." <j***@discussiongroup.com> wrote in message news:OEqIFUvuGHA.2232@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Hi > May be this can Help, http://www.ezlan.net/metrics.html > Jack (MVP-Network > > "John Hupp" <jd_h***@prpcompany.com> wrote in message > news:%23CQQN$uuGHA.3496@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >> For computers that have more than one active high-speed Internet >> connection (e.g. Ethernet LAN and wireless LAN), how does Windows XP or >> Internet Explorer choose which connection to use?
