Can't see computer in workgroup, but shared resources are availablHi. I have a network of three Win XP Home SP2 computers and one WinME
computer networked using a US Robotics wireless router. One of the WinXP computers (called Main) does not show up in the MSHOME workgroup, where it is configured to be. This is true not only on the other three machines, but also with the problem computer as well. In other words, if you navigate to the MSHOME workgroup with Main, you can see all the other computers on the network, but not Main itself. The same can be seen on all the other computers. All of the shared resources on Main are still accessible, however. It can be pinged, it can be accessed by typing \\Main in the address bar, and the resources can be mapped as network drives. Any ideas on why the computer is not showing up as a member of the workgroup? Thanks. On Thu, 10 Aug 2006 21:12:02 -0700, Yachnin <Yach***@discussions.microsoft.com>

One of the most common would be a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. One of them, Main, is the problematic machine. The problem persists regardless of which of the other machines is present. I've tried shutting down firewall and security software to see if that helps, but no change. Also, I noticied that there have been problems with NVIDIA nForce products.
