Can a networked CD drive look like a CD drive from another computer?I have one computer with XP and the other has 98. In My network places on
the XP machine, all the drives on the other computer appear as network folders, not drives. Is there a way to make the cd drive look like an actual drive on this computer? Is it possible to play a music cd in the drive on the other computer on this computer? Hi
Yes CD Drive can be mapped. The Playing software has to be on your computer, and you can open a music CD that is on Mapped Drive. What is Mapped Drive? http://www.ezlan.net/faq#map Jack (MVP-Networking). My mistake, Richard is right, I was thinking MP3 or other file type that can be ripped of a music CD. If it is a straight Music CD it does not use the Computer/Network File system, it uses the Audio output of the CD-Rom and thus can be played only on what ever Line Input it is physically connected too.
