I have installed a camera system on my XP Pro, this system can be view from
the web using port 9000 and 9001, but for some reason this ports are not open, i open all the ports on the firewall of my router a 2wire dsl router for this PC, and disabled my windows firewall and i still can not get to my cameras. Accordind to the vendor they are block or not open. I installed IIS and created a web site with my dynamic DNS and included the ports there and now they are open, i can get to the camera software but can not see the cameras. The vendor says not to use IIS services. Any ideas what can be blocking my ports. -- Alberto IIS by default only uses Port 80.
First thing you should be doing is closing ALL those ports you've just opened on the router. You can keep Port 80 open for your IIS. And reenable the Windows Firewall. It will open the ports you need by itself. As for the webcam, you can open 9000 - 9001 and ensure they are pointing to the PC that has the webcam. Keep every other port CLOSED unless it's absolutely essential they be opened.
