Computers in same Workgrp not seenI have two computers on the same network (WindowsXP Home edition), one
wireless, one directly connected. Both can get to the internet through the router/cable modem. Both belong to the same workgroup, but neither can see the other. I made sure that the NETBIOS over TCP/IP was "on", and restarted the Browser. I have turned off Windows Firewall on both computers and still the problem exists. I even tried creating a new workgroup and putting both in the new workgroup. Both still unable to see each other. Any suggestions on what to look at or try next? There are several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this article with an open mind. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html You could look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!): <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
