Losing http://www connection but can still send/receive email???one of my XP computers. I keep losing access to the WWW via my browser (Firefox and IE), yet Email still comes and goes via Outlook. My 2nd computer (tied in to the same Linksys router) never loses its connection, and all of my IMs on that computer stay online. On this computer, I currently get "cannot connect to server" when I attempt to go to any web address - but I'm able to send this message. I can ping my router, but cannot browse to it. I can also ping websites from this computer, so that confirms that I do have Internet connectivity - plus I'm able to get Email. The only way I get http access again is to reboot. I have tried disabling/reenabling my network connection, and also tried to "Repair" the connection, neither of which have worked. I have run AdAware and Spybot as well as Norton AV scans. (Spybot and NAV run/monitor continuously). WindowsUpdate is up to date. I really don't understand what could cause this type of problem. Can anyone offer any insight? Replies CC'd to sender (or Reply To All) would be GREATLY appreciated, so I'll see answers sooner. Also, if there is another NG which may be more appropriate for my question, please advise. Can anyone offer any insight? please have a look at http://winhlp.com/wxnet.htm . I suspect some kind of Winsock corruption, but the web page should help you to pinpoint that more accurately. already lost my WWW connection twice this afternoon/evening. Weird that I can still connect to the newsgroups, and send/receive Email, but no websites... I'm losing any browser connection whatsoever -- I can't even browse to my router. I can ping the Linksys, and I can ping Internet IPs too. But NO webpage loads (not even 192.168.1.1). Just had my connection vanish again, in the middle of doing google searches for local restaurants. But this is going through ok... ????
