One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this article with an open mind. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html Make sure that NetBT is Enabled, explicitly, on the Windows XP computers. It's not a choice on Windows 98. Windows 98 has NetBT Enabled. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/04/netbios-over-tcpip.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/04/netbios-over-tcpip.html If that's not the case, then you possibly have a master browser conflict. The problem is, computers running Windows 98 and Windows XP don't work well together, when maintaining Network Neighbourhood ("seeing" each other). My recommendation would be that you disable the Browse Master on both Windows 98 computers, and ensure that the browser is running on both Windows XP computers. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/windows-9x-9598me-and-browser.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/windows-9x-9598me-and-browser.html -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
