Machine 2 (details below) Machine 1: Windows XP Media Center SP2 * Use simple file sharing: NOT CHECKED * Folder Downloads has been shared. Share and Security has Everyone with Full Control * NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled * Guest disabled Machine 2: Windows XP Prof SP2 * able to ping machine 1 using its name * unable to see shares on machine 1 after typing \\machinename\ in Start >> Run. There are several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem.
