Small networkHost laptop (winxp) is ok for emails and internet using broad band. It is
also ok to utilise files on second laptop (winxp) and the remote printer. They communicate through a Belkin five port router and two lengths of Cat5e cable. Second laptop will access shared files on host computer no problem but will not receive the internet or emails. I have tried with firewall switched off but no success. Ping one way but not the other - why? Help please before the white coat man arrives!!!! Can you ping a public IP? if yes, can you ping yahoo.com. Posting the result of ipconfig /all may help.

Go to command line, do "tracert 4.2.2.1". post back with the result.

There are several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. system tray and they both state that the system is connected BUT I still cannot access the internet from the second computer. The white coat has arrived but as yet is not donned by anyone.
