home network problemto share important files and printer. It worked for a couple months and then all of a sudden the computers did not show up in network places on either computer. It was like it was never set up. We started all over and ran the wizard from the desktop and created a disk for the laptop. Both computers are running win xp home. All the names are correctly entered the workgroup name is the same. File and printer sharing is checked. The option checked was through a residential gateway. The actual setup is as follows: he is in an apt. at school. The cable comes in and goes to the high speed modem. The modem feeds each room through a wall outlet. He is plugged from the wall outlet to a hub. From the hub he connected both computers with a cable. He has use of internet on both computers. The computers do not see each other. As mentioned earlier it worked before for a couple of months. Does anyone have any insight or something I can have him try to do? Both computers are using Norton systemworks 2005 for security. -- Thank you, Phil On Wed, 23 Aug 2006 05:33:03 -0700, Phil <P***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote:

So hopefully I am assuming correctly. When I open the command from start and run, inside it already has "C:\Documents and settings\Phil> then I typed the browstat command. I also tried changing the utility location to inside the +Phil under docs and settings. That reacted the same. I know I must be very close but a minute detail that I am missing is making a world of difference, but i'm willing to keep plugging if you don't mind it. I'm always up to being schooled and learning something. Thank you, Phil Show quoteHide quote > --

You just put them where the Path entry says they are. I use "C"\Utility" because it's short and easy to remember. You can also change the folder referenced when the command window is opened.
