Then you need to disable Simple File Sharing, and setup and activate a non-Guest account with identical, non-blank password, on each computer. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/06/file-sharing-under-windows-xp.html#NonGuest> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/06/file-sharing-under-windows-xp.html#NonGuest -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience. You can use Advanced File Sharing on the desktop, setup non-Guest authentication, and have some protection there. If you're connecting the laptop to an untrusted network, anything on the laptop accessible to anybody is accessible to everybody. And you will have to do as Malke suggests, and keep your shared files in the Shared Documents folder. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/06/file-sharing-under-windows-xp.html#Guest> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/06/file-sharing-under-windows-xp.html#Guest -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
