We are installing VOIP phones as you may remember and as part of this
we are having a broadband service provided. This will go into a
wireless router. From there we have cabling to sockets for the phones
and one server. The VOIP people want to make sure that we configure LAN
connection with the router correctly. (Netgear ProSafe 802.11g Wireless
VPN Firewall 8 FVG318 - wireless router) We are not sure that we quite
understand this.

What do we have to do to configure the LAN Connection with the router
exactly?

To setup VoIP in your LAN, you may need to setup DHCP option to find the IP phone server if you have one. You may also configure QoS for the IP phone so that it give the priority to the phone. Finally, you need to assign private IP, gateway and DNS for your computers and phones.
