Network UNC vs Mapped DriveBrand new Windows XP Pro SP2 PC with all patches/updates
One piece of secondary software loaded - Cad application called OrCad User opens a file via a mapped drive and gets slow application performance User opens same file via UNC path and get fast application performance Same scenario but not nearly as noticable in browsing files and such I've seen a lot of issues with XPRO2SP2 users that complain of slow UNC browsing/performance but haven't seen much with slow mapped drive performance. Any tips/points to review? Shut down all non-essentials services and startups already. Thanks Sounds like computer browser issues. Use prowstate to check the computer browser status and post back with the result.

It returns: Status for domain XXX on transport XXX Browsing is active on the domain Master browser name is: name of correct mataster 3 backup reservers retrieved from master lists 3 other servers There are 97 servers in the domain (other XP PCs) There are 4 other domains (true, seperate entities that user does not browse to, use, etc) It seems ok to me?
