Cannot create a new modem connection

On a laptop computer running WINDOWS xp pROFESSIONAL, I cannot create a new
connection using the New Connection Wizard.
I choose Create a New Connection, Internet Connection, then the option to
create a new connection manually. In the next screenshot, only the thrid
option is available (that is broadband connection always alive, without
username and password). Instead i need to select the first option (that is
modem connection), which is not available.
Does anyone knows why?

Thanks, GaB

Tank you very much, the article helped me to solve the problem. I have
deleted a registry entry then performed a reinstallation.
