XP networking LAN & WANI have a P3 laptop (Toshiba Satellite). I am experiencing trouble getting it
on my local network and the Internet. I have temporarily hooked up an adapter (USB-2-ethernet) to get it onto the network; but, as yet, I cannot get it onto the Internet. It says that it is trying to renew the IP address (TCP/IP) and it is unsuccessful. So I made it a permanent address. That failed too. My router address is 192.168.1.1 I would like to make that connection; but, I am unable to do so. Any suggestions? Does it maybe need an adapter? You can check if your USB-to-LAN adapter is ASIX's solutions or not? If yes, you can try to download the latest ASIX's USB-to-LAN stanard drivers from ASIX's web site. All ASIX's USB-to-LAN drivers were qualified on ASIX's USB-to-LAN demo boards with ASIX's default VID/PID. If these drivers couldn't work with your USB-to-LAN adapter, you might need to contact the manufacturer's support guys to get the correct driver.
