Was the computer ever a member of a domain before? The more details you give, the more help you can get. Malke Yes, I am connected to the network where the domain exists, and other
machines in the lab can join. Yes I am logged on using the local administrator account. The machine was previously connected to netware account, and the netware client has been uninstalled. The machine has never been connected to a windows domain. The machine lists the workgroup as mshome as if it were a xp home computer but definately is a pro install. the option to change to domain is grayed out as if it were a xp home machine. thanks for any help -- Show quoteHide quoteAllen "Malke" wrote: > Allen wrote: > > > have an xp pro machine sp2 that i'm trying to join to domain. when i > > go to the computer name tab and click on change to get to the change > > computer name tab, the member of section shows workgroup as mshome as > > if the machine were a xp home machine, and the option to change to > > domain is grayed out. hate to have to rebuild os to fix, but i can't > > find info on this problem anywhere. > > Are you connected to the domain when trying to join it? Make sure the Client for Netware is completely uninstalled and there are no traces left. 3. Possible Group Policy in effect? Malke Hi,
I've had something similar in the past and reinstalling the "F&P sharing for Microsoft Networks" services in the LAN properties did the trick. ..alan Show quoteHide quote "Allen" wrote: > Yes, I am connected to the network where the domain exists, and other > machines in the lab can join.
