Thanks know how you set up the router, how you set up the computer, whether they're correctly connected to each other, etc. Open the Network Connections folder. Does it show a Local Area Connection? If not, the network adapter isn't installed properly. Does the connection's status say "Connected"? If not, it isn't seeing the connection to the router. If those things are OK, right-click the Local Area Connection, click Status > Support > Details, and look at these settings: IP Address, Subnet Mask, DHCP Server, DNS Server. Compare them to the settings on the computer that works. They should be the same except for the IP address, which should be different only in the fourth number. -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see. If I switch the cables from the device the first pc works on either hub. The non working pc worked before I formatted. I have not changed anything on pc2 other than swapping out the hard drive and re installing Windows. Thanks for your help, paul In article <BF106A62-ACCB-4623-9A59-DEB529788***@microsoft.com>,

Thanks for your help, paul Is there another connection called "Local Area Connection"? If not, the computer's Ethernet network adapter isn't installed properly. Go to Device Manager and look in the "Network adapters" section for a device with a "!" in its icon, which indicates that it's not properly installed. -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
