have a dell inspiron 5100 using a netgear wireless card with a netgear router
that is frequently dropping the internet connection.  It will go down and
back up several times over a few minutes but not all the time.  there is
another computer on the network, a dell with built in wireless, that does not
have this problem so it does not appear to be a problem with the network.
The same computer had the same problem on a different network.  Any idea what
might be causing this problem.
PS:  the computer and user are in Taiwan and I am trying to support them
long distance so any requests for additional information may take some time
to acquire so I can respond.  comptuer is running WindowsXP

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Given this information, my first guess would be a faulty wireless adapter.
Disable or remove it and try a different one.
