I have 2 XP Pro machines on a peer to peer with a win98SE machine

My two XP machines see each other well and I am able to share files between
them.  I had an older Win98SE machine that I was using prior to this, lots of
family photos videos etc on it.  I created the same workgroup on the 98
machine as on the XP's I ran netsetup.exe on the 98 machine and I shared the
appropriate folder.

I can see the name for the 98 computer in both XP "My Network Places" but
when I double click on it I get a "Network path not found or permissions not
granted" error.

The 98 machine shows up in "Network Neighborhood" in the proper "workgoup"
and when I click it all the shared folders appear and I am able to browse
them, but neither of the two XP machines are visible.

I do not know what to do.

Disable the Browse Master on the Win98 computer.

If that doesn't help, identify the name of the workgroup, and substitute for
"@wgname" below.  Look at "browstat status" and "browstat listwfw @wgname", from
each Windows XP computer.  Read this article, and linked articles, and follow
instructions precisely (download browstat!):
