Disable Network Browsing

2000 Domain, XP Pro workstations.   I have XP Pro workstations that I
am locking down big time since they are going to be used by outside
contractors, the lockdowns are being applied via Group Policy.

Problem:  From an open/save file dialog box (like notepad for example)
if the user enters "\\servername" in the file name box they can browse
my network/servers.    I don't want them to be able to do this, if they
need access to any shares it will be done via a mapped drive.

How can I do this, if possible?

Disable the Server service.  This will also stop illicit shares beign made.

I think you misunderstand my question, 180 degrees off in fact.

Disabling the Server service on the workstation will disallow
connections to the workstation, I don't want the workstation to access
servers.   Obviously disabling the Server service on the servers is not
an option.

Disable the server service on the workstations. This will prevent them from
browsing the network for shares.

You could also make the shares invisible to browsing, by changing their
names to end with a $ sign if you wish.

No it doesn't, it makes it where you cannot browse *to* the
workstation, not *from* it.
