Wireless NetworkHi All,
I have a linksys wirless router configered on an XP (SP2) Pro machine and, have a problem with a laptop which used to pick up the router configuration and allow me to access the www. It seems not that i am unable to see the router on the laptop. I have reset the router and, even backed up to a previous restore point on the router but the laptop still cannot see it. I have also attempted to reboot the laptop and refresh the network list but it still does not pick up anything. Please could someone help. Regards. -- Peter In news:B4536238-3FAD-4DCD-90F3-1CBAA3FF7427@microsoft.com, Peter F <Pet***@discussions.microsoft.com> typed:Show quoteHide quote > Hi All, So, your XP Pro SP2 machine is connected to the wireless access point/router > > I have a linksys wirless router configered on an XP (SP2) Pro machine > and, have a problem with a laptop which used to pick up the router > configuration and allow me to access the www. > > It seems not that i am unable to see the router on the laptop. And your laptop can't connect to the wireless access point? Are you also running XP SP2 on that laptop? Do you have another wireless card, or another wireless-capable computer you can use to rule out the laptop itself? More info would help.... Hi Lanwench,
Yes i can confirm that the XP Pro machine is connected to the router via a wired Ethernet connection and, the laptop can't see or connect to the wireless router. The laptop has XP SP2 and i use windows to configure the wireless settings by chosing the "Use windowws to configure my wireless network settings" option. The laptop has always worked without any problem until recently. S.P. Seems like i can now see the router but it will not connect i put in the key but it is trying to aquire network address. Seems as if it is not giving out IP addresses. Please let me know if you need any further information. -- Show quoteHide quotePeter "Lanwench [MVP - Exchange]" wrote: > In news:B4536238-3FAD-4DCD-90F3-1CBAA3FF7427@microsoft.com, > Peter F <Pet***@discussions.microsoft.com> typed: > > Hi All, > > > > I have a linksys wirless router configered on an XP (SP2) Pro machine > > and, have a problem with a laptop which used to pick up the router > > configuration and allow me to access the www. > > > > It seems not that i am unable to see the router on the laptop. You might try temporarily disabling WEP/WPA to test (I would also recommend WPA over WEP anyway). Yes, remove all encryption and start from scratch.
