I have two computers connected to my home network, and everything has run
smoothly for quite a while until recently. Now I can only access folders and
files on the laptop from the desktop computer and not the other way. I run
Symantecs Norton Internet Security on both computers and XP Home on the
Laptop and XP Prof. on the desk top. I have been through all kinds of
troubleshooting and now I am crying for help. Is there anybody out there
having some good ideas?

Uninstall Norton Internet Security until the network is working properly
and/or while you troubleshoot the problem, then reinstall it after you are
done.  It's very likely that the firewall is misconfigured and you can't
just disable it because it probably won't disable properly.
