Missing Network Connections Window Items

Today when I tried to change my cable connection, I noticed my NETWORK
CONNECTIONS window was empty.
My DEVICE MANAGER window (from CONTROL PANEL | SYSTEM PROPERTIES | HARDWARE)
is also empty.
I tried the SYSTEM RESTORE to go back to a safe point, but it is also
without any restore point.
I checked my security status using an external tool (Symantec) and I have no
security problems or virus.
I still have my internet connection (trough cable) preserved. The computer
seems to work normally.
Does anybody know how do I fix this problem? What happened?

Thank you
Oziris
