cannot ping computerI have upgraded a HP laptop with windows XP pro with SP1 and reloaded all the
network drivers from HP's site. I cannot access the internet so that I can do all the critical updates and SP2 install. The computer will get an IP address from dhcp, has joined our workgroup, can see the server and log onto the server in windows explorer, but cannot join the domain or access the internet or be pinged by any other computer. It can ping both the server and the gateway, but nothing else. I have tried the winsock repair and it didn't work either. I have tried everything with both the NIC and Wlan. Does anyone have any other suggestions? On Thu, 21 Sep 2006 10:57:02 -0700, Senator Moose

Be patient and persistent. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/problems-with-lsp-winsock-layer-in.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/problems-with-lsp-winsock-layer-in.html If you absolutely tried all LSP / Winsock repairs, as described above, let's look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net config workstation", from the problem computer, AND from 2 properly working ones, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!): <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
