cannot access the internet from a client PChi, my laptop is connected to a host PC, all the computers in the network
have windows XP professional except my laptop which is home edition. my problem is that the other client computers in the network can easily access the internet while my laptop has a hard time accessing the net. everytime i click the browser an access denied is shown but when i try to refresh the browser 3 times and sometimes 8 the browser can now access the net. please forgive my grammar. BTW, i have already scanned my laptop with updated ad-aware, spyware doctor and AVG anti-virus had found to be free of bugs and still i have this problem. hoping for your immediate solution on this regard. thanks posting the result of ipconfig /all here may help.

Go to Start/run
type cmd and then ping localhost at the prompt. That will tell you if your laptop NIC is working OK. Assuming it is, I would try to access the internet directly using your laptop. If you can do this, then the issue is that you do not have Internet Connection Sharing on your host PC. To do that you have to run the Network Setup wizard. Best answer is get a router, then connect all your PCs to that. Hope that helps, Steve Show quoteHide quote "mark" <m***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8C5C6D60-4E09-4264-9C9A-A1D36789691B@microsoft.com... > hi, my laptop is connected to a host PC, all the computers in the network > have windows XP professional except my laptop which is home edition. > > my problem is that the other client computers in the network can easily > access the internet while my laptop has a hard time accessing the net. > everytime i click the browser an access denied is shown but when i try to > refresh the browser 3 times and sometimes 8 the browser can now access the > net. please forgive my grammar. > > BTW, i have already scanned my laptop with updated ad-aware, spyware > doctor > and AVG anti-virus had found to be free of bugs and still i have this > problem. > > hoping for your immediate solution on this regard. thanks
