Computer browser service won't run.I am able to ping and see other computers on the network using the command line, but when I try to browse them in "My Computer" (or other places in the shell) it times out with a message that I do not have permission to browse the workgroup or something like that. The network is set up correctly, and I am the only one with this problem. The others on the network can see me fine. I then found out that the "computer browser" service needs to run on my computer. It wasn't, But when I try to run this service it starts and then stops again with the message: "The Computer Browser Service on Local Computer started and then stopped", also letting me know that this is normal for some services, but not if the computer browser service is one of them. Doh! :) What could be wrong with the computer browser service since it won't run, and how could I fix it? Thank you in advance for help. -- //ceed "Sometimes I think I'd be better off dead. Check your personal firewalls first. Then look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!): <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp And make sure that NetBT is consistently Enabled on all computers. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/04/netbios-over-tcpip.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/04/netbios-over-tcpip.html -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
