Home network and shared files and printersthe shared documents folder on any of the computers from any of my other network computers. I could also see and connect to the printers on any computer from any other computer. Recently, access to one computer ("DEN Computer") has been eliminated from the other three computers. The DEN Computer can access files and printer from all of the other three computers on the network but the other computers cannot see the DEN Computer. I can see the DEN Computer as a computer when I view network computers but I cannot access it. When I try to access the Den Computer from one of the other computers on the network, I get a message that reads: "\\Dencomputer is not accessable. You might not have permission to use this network resouce. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions." I am the administrator on the Dencomputer but I do not know how to look at permissions on this computer. I have compared the firewall settings to the other computers on the network but I cannot discern any differences. Any ideas? -- Joe from Long Island On Mon, 25 Sep 2006 18:09:02 -0700, Joe Rice <JoeR***@discussions.microsoft.com>

If you're pretty sure that the personal firewalls aren't causing your problem (and what personal firewalls are involved anyway?), check the NetBT setting, and make sure that it's consistent on all computers. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/04/netbios-over-tcpip.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/04/netbios-over-tcpip.html Then check for several other possibilities too, any which might be the cause of your problem. Read this article with an open mind. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html Or look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!): <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
