Are you using the problem laptop in the same physical location as the others? My email is AT DOT actual address pchuck mvps org. Hello Chuck
when I do "ipconfig /all" everything is the same as other computers except the IP address. the laptop is in the same phisical location as other computer, as was able to join the domain with other computer at the same time the laptop failed. I moved the laptop to other location in the office, it did not help. thanks -- Show quoteHide quoteIT "IT" wrote: > Hello > I have a laptop with new XP pro install, I am not able to join it to the > domain, it gets an IP address and can access internet just fine, I can join > other machines to the domain but not this one. the message says, can not find > domain "Domainname" > > Thanks > -- > IT On Mon, 2 Oct 2006 08:47:01 -0700, IT <I*@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote:

My email is AT DOT actual address pchuck mvps org. Hello Chuck,
I got it fixed, well, the network if configured for both DHCP and static IPs, two different scopes. the laptop was set for DHCP, I was not able to join it to the domain, this afternoon, I changed the IP to static, along with DNS. then I was able to join it to the domain, I still can not figure out why? Thanks so much for you help. -- Show quoteHide quoteIT "Chuck" wrote: > On Mon, 2 Oct 2006 08:47:01 -0700, IT <I*@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > > >Hello Chuck > > > >when I do "ipconfig /all" everything is the same as other computers except > >the IP address. the laptop is in the same phisical location as other > >computer, as was able to join the domain with other computer at the same time > >the laptop failed. > >I moved the laptop to other location in the office, it did not help. > > > >thanks > > And if you swap network connections with another computer? > <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/08/solving-network-problems-tutorial.html#Three> > http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/08/solving-network-problems-tutorial.html#Three > > All things being equal, any computer should be identical to any other.
