Hi

I'm connecting to laptops with win xp pro. on both of them using a
cross cable. Infact, after connection is established I can ping from
both sides of the network. however, I can only access the shares of one
of them. If I try to access the other one it will fail.

Any suggestions !

Thanks
Hussein

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this
article with an open mind.

You could look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from each computer, and
diagnose the problem.  Read this article, and linked articles, and follow
instructions precisely (download browstat!):

Try using the IP address of the system you cannot get to, instead of its
name
