modem has nasty attitude problemDell Dim4600
Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Modem: Conexant D850 56K V.9x DFVc Modem Recently I downloaded Google web accelerator. Since then, my dial-up modem keeps disconnecting. The disconnects happen less than a half a minute after i first dial and often immediately after log-in. It often happens repeatedly over just a couple minutes. i tried removing Google web accelerator. I tried changing the max. port speed and increased the "Cancel the call if not connected" value. I have tried using system restore. I tried crating a new connection (in network connections). I also tried reinstalling the modem to no avail. I have also run scans with Spy-Bot, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Ewido ant-maleware, C.A. EZ Anti-virus and M.S. Windows Defender. Spybot and Ewido did find some tracking cookies but nothing seems to correct the problem. Please help! do a restore from a restore point prior to
your web accelerator....
