I am trying to install a network component (XP Home) type of "Client" from
the list of:

Client
Service
Protocol

Within my LAN connection and properties popup window.

When I click the Add button, a popup window appears stating an error
occurred during configuration of the network on this computer.

Nothing else is mentioned.

Is this to do with the fact that I cannot add components?

"Windows was unable to find any drivers for this device".  If you have a
disk that contains the updated driver, or you wish to search in another
location, click OK"

I put my XP disk in and entered D: as the place to look but it cannot find
anything.

How can I add these new components?

I have also tried to setup home networking using the wizard but I get an
error message stating

Becky,

That error message might be rather useful here.  Try again.

If you're trying to add the components by hand, my article may help.

Or you may see another version of the (currently) un revealed message.
