I know For Windows XP Professional, the maximum number of other computers
that are permitted to simultaneously connect over the network is ten. But now
in office I need to have 12 connections (PCs) , it always show "no more
connections can be made to this remote machine.....)  How do I increase the
connections number

Thanks

You will need to either purchase and install a real MS server operating
system onto the pseudo-server OR if you don't need to run Windows
programs on the pseudo-server (it's just a file server, for ex.) you
could install a Linux distro on it.

If you decide to go with an MS server operating system, with such a
small number of workstations, SBS would suit you.

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=314882 - Inbound connections limit in
XP

5 for XP Home
10 for XP Pro/Tablet/MCE
49 for SBS 2000
74 for SBS 2003
Unlimited for full Server O/Ses
